We have been working on a project recording details of all the households in each townland in the Arigna valley and Glen from 1858 (Griffiths Valuation) to date.
About Arigna Heritage
Our aim is to have a record of all the families that lived in the area and details of those who emigrated or had to leave. We are photographing all the old houses that are scattered throughout the valley. They are a reminder of times past when life was hard but simple and they all have a story which if not researched may otherwise be lost or forgotten.
The study is on-going but our findings will go on display as part of an exhibition to be held in Arigna from the 26th July 2013 to the 5th August 2013 in conjunction with events planned for the Arigna Gathering and The Gathering in the Glen. This information may also be helpful to people trying to find their homeplace.
